I’ve been a bit busy this week, so didn’t get around to posting about I.’s big hair cut right when it happened on Tuesday.
I. has had long hair for the last 3 years. Over the last few months, he’s been thinking about cutting his hair all off, but, would decide at the last minute to keep it. This week though, he decided it was time for it all to go for sure!
It’s been bugging him a bit in Martial Arts class because they’re grappling and sparring more. And I think he was also just ready for a change.
I offered to take him to the barber, but, he asked me to do it. I almost didn’t even though I generally do cut the kid’s hair because it’s one thing to give someone a trim, it’s a whole other thing to actually cut and shape someone’s hair from one style into another. He wanted me to do it though, so, I did.
I must have asked him if he was sure he wanted it cut like 10 times before I actually hacked off his pony tail. He finally got annoyed with me and said quite firmly, “Yes mom, I’m sure I want short hair!!”
And short hair he does have!
He was thinking maybe of going for a hair cut like the clones in Star Wars the Clone Wars, but since i don’t have clippers, that wasn’t really an option. So, instead, we went for the only haircut I know how to do. Short on the bottom a bit long on the top. Luckily, it suites my boys!
I. really loves it. He keeps shaking his head around and feeling his neck. It’s such a change to go from long to short hair, and he’s really enjoying it. And since it is hair after all, if he wants, he can always grow it back.
