blog-red-curtainLast year, after seeing A Midsummer Night’s Dream on stage at the local high school, Isaiah asked if he could be in a play.  So, I set about trying to find something that would work.

I did find a director just getting underway with rehearsals for Anne of Green Gables.  She was happy to have I. come and join them, but then she gave me the dates.  The intense rehearsals and the performance was the month directly after “the baby”,now known as O., would be born.

It just wasn’t doable for us to make that type of a commitment the month or so after our  newborn would be with us.  While I. did understand, he was really bummed.

Come to find out though from a friend whose daughter performed in the play….it wasn’t a great experience.  There were issues with the director and blah blah blah.  Needless to say, we were glad we didn’t get to do it.

Since then, we’ve been looking for something to come up.  A few have, but, either we found out about them too late, or, they weren’t being done by people he would likely have a good experience with (per our theater community friends!).

Then, finally, about 6 weeks ago, we found out there were some children needed for a local production of Shakespeare’s The Merry Wives of Windsor.

I. came in and read a few lines and got a part!  Actually, he has several parts.  He is a child of Windsor, a servant, and a fairy!

He is soooooo excited.  He had is first rehearsal Monday evening and just loved it.  It’s a hectic schedule, but, it’s definitely something that he’s very interested in.  So, of course, we’re up for it!  I can’t wait to see him onstage!!
