How to Make an Awesome Smoothie

blog-smoothieWe love smoothies at our house.  The best smoothies I’ve ever tasted were the ones we had when we were in Kauai’i, HI.  They were made with the freshest, tastiest fruit and were just fantastic!

We have our own recipe though that we really enjoy(even though it doesn’t have the fresh off the tree mango and banana in it!), and that’s fairly healthy.

Here it is for you…but it’s only a framework.  A smoothie can be made of so many different combinations that you’ve got to just experiment with your favorite fruits and have fun.

I do find that whatever combos you make, a banana is essential to making the smoothie the right consistency.  And, while you could use ice cream in place of the yogurt, it’s much healthier to use yogurt!

Some of our favorite smoothies to make are:

Peach, Banana

Blueberry, Banana (especially tasty with our fresh, organic, local Maine blueberries)

Peach, Blueberry, Banana

Strawberry, Mango, Orange, Banana (add OJ instead of Soy Milk – or use both)

Ingredients

2 Bananas (frozen or not)

1 1/2 C Fruit of Your Choice (frozen if your banana is not, otherwise, can be unfrozen)

1-2 C Soy Milk (can use cow milk too, or juice)

1 1/2 C French Vanilla Yogurt

Directions

Add fruit, soy milk and yogurt to blender.

Blend until smooth.

Pour into glasses and serve with a straw
