blog-monsanto-cartoonThis morning I found an email from Health Freedom Alliance in my inbox…you’ll never guess what it was about.

OK – if you read the headline, of course you can guess what it was about!

Monsanto, the St Louis based genetically engineered crop/seed/etc producer, is attempting to sue a local Maine Milk Company for advertising that they offer milk without the hormone rBST (which is one of Monsanto’s big products).

Monsanto says the fact that Oakhurst advertises that it’s milk is Hormone Free is unfair.  They say that it makes the claim that rBST ( also known as rBGH) Free Milk is better than Milk from hormone treated cows – which they say is untrue.

Many, myself included,  disagree with this statement.  I go out of  my way to purchase Oakhurst  milk because it is a local Maine dairy that buys milk only from local Maine farmers, and only from those farmers who pledge that they don’t use rBST in their milk.

Its actually quite important to me as I have read research that shows that these hormones have had  alot of affects on people, children inpaticular, and that it’s cumulative effects are still not quite understood.

Monsanto says that they have the research to prove their position; that their milk is just as good, in fact, no different than, milk from cows who are not given any artificial growth hormones.  Its interesting to note however, that this research is often funded by Monsanto themselves, or worse, companies that have closet ties to the GMO giant. And, many countries have done their own research on the hormone, and even though Monsanto says on their website that no studies have found milk from hormone treated cows to be unsafe, the EU, Canada and several other nations have banned the use of the hormones as well as the sale of products containing them in their respective countries.

blog-frankenfoodsThe fact that this giant, global corporation who does nearly 5 billion in sales each year trying to sue a little Maine state dairy (OK – lets be generous maybe they likely serve a bit of New Hampshire and Massachusetts too.) that does nearly 200 million in sales/yr seems a bit, um, seedy….and unfair!

Its indicative of what’s happening all over the world though.  The wealth of the few is invading the rights and freedoms of the rest of us.

People take notice.  If this lawsuit goes through, and should something horrible happen and Monsanto win, it’ll reverberate across the U.S. and likely around the world.

If you don’t know about the many nasty things Monsanto is already involved in, you can visit some of the following links…..

In this article from The Huffington Post, some of the scientists who researched rBST for Monsanto now refuse to drink milk unless it is Organic and Untreated with these harmful hormones!

Here is some information from Mercola about how Monsanto and a Colorado based consulting group created a fake organization to promote a farmer’s right to use rBST.

More info about the shady practices of Monsanto including bribery and mis-information to prevent them having to do things like environmental studies that would expose their products for the toxic problems they are.

The Center for Food Safety just took Monsanto to the Supreme Court and won!  The use of Monsanto’s Roundup Ready Alfalfa is banned until it is deregulated – which is over a year away and hopefully will never happen…which shows Monsanto has their greedy little paws in a lot of areas of our food supply – and that’s very very scary!

blog-no-monsantoWhat Mr.T. and I have done for many years is boycott any and all products associated with Monsanto in anyway.  Some of them include…

RoundUp (toxic and horrible for the earth in its own right, its one of Monsanto’s many products)

Monsanto is big into seed.  Support organic seed companies and heirloom varieties as well as local, organic farmers.

Here is a link to a list of seed companies owned by Monsanto, as well as companies that do not support practices like Monsanto’s.

And, obviously, AVOID MILK FROM rBST TREATED COWS!!!!!!!
