Cleaning – The Never (Ever!) Ending Cycle

July 23, 2010

It never ceases to amaze me how much one has to clean in life to keep things at least in some semblance of order, not to mention sanitary!
Laundry piles  piece after dirty little piece into an unending stash of clothing screaming for your attention to wash, dry, fold, and put it away again where it [...]

Unreturned Messages…..Grrrrrrrr!

July 9, 2010

I have a little rant today.
Its about unreturned messages.
Email.  Telephone.  Even snail mail (although I don’t use that as much anymore).
When someone doesn’t return your message, they’re basically ignoring you.  Saying you don’t matter.  Its kind of like turning your back on someone during a face to face conversation.  At least in my opinion.
I do [...]

I Just Heard The Best Album Today….and The Proceeds ALL Go to Charity !

June 26, 2010

Mr. T. and I are pretty budget conscious, and between all the things for the boys, the house and well, life….there’s not usually much $ left for fun stuff for the two of us.  Today though we decided to splurge and download an album.
We weren’t sure what we wanted to get but had some ideas [...]

Father’s Day – A History

June 20, 2010

If you’re a dad or a dad to be, Happy Father’s Day to you!
Its a great thing to be a dad!  In 1910, a woman named Sonora Smart Dodd thought so too; so much so that she wanted to make a celebration and holiday out of it.
As a young woman living in Spokane Washington, Sonora [...]

A Shorter Willie

June 1, 2010

Although I’m not a country music fan per say, I do like Willie Nelson…..I mean who doesn’t like Willie?  He’s an American Icon.
As well he should be after all his years (he’s 77), all his songs (he’s written over 300), and everything else he’s done!
Part of what makes up “The” Willie Nelson is his hair. [...]

The Big 100!

May 28, 2010

Well, here it is, my 100th post on this blog!  Guess I actually do have something to say.   When I started this blog I thought I might post once in awhile but not too much.  But, here I am at the 100th post.
Wanna see me get to 200 or how about 300?
Heck, why not [...]

A Mother’s Day History Lesson

May 9, 2010

Someone was asking me yesterday what I was going to do for Mother’s Day.  I replied with a “Oh, I’m not sure” (cause I wasn’t!) and the response was “Oh, that’s OK, it’s just another Hallmark Holiday”.  While I kind of agree, it still got me thinking.  How did this holiday get started, and once [...]

It’s Black Fly Season…Ugh!

April 28, 2010

Spring in Maine is so beautiful, and anticipated that it seems it must come with a price…..Black Flies.  They’re just horrible.  They swarm around your head and actually bang into you.  Apparently they like the CO2 your breathing out, but they’re extremely annoying.
Not only that though, the females bite you.  I know the poor gals [...]

John Muir – An Amazing Man Who Led an Amazing Life!

April 21, 2010

Today, April 21st, is John Muir’s birthday.
Mr. Muir is quite an amazing man, and he led a life that was full of love for the Earth.  He spent a lot of his days in the wild, walking and simply “being with” nature; a type of life Mr. T. and I often dream about.
Born in Scotland [...]
