Special Knitted Mittens for Kids….All The Way from Sweden!
This free knitting pattern is for a pair of mittens in a child’s size 6″. There is an interesting story that goes along with the pattern, which is said to have originated in Sweden in 1892!
Apparently, a woman was asked to make a solid pair of mittens for a woodcutter. She was excited to take on the challenge and in the end, decided to knit a mitten that was two layers thick (they’re knit with two strands of yarn instead of 1). The man was unhappy however and he actually gave them back to her. So, she washed and brushed them, and….everyone loved them!
